A Reader Said the Silicone was Sticking to Her Master

This will help you avoid the same problem

Here is the master - he doesn't look to happy about the mold making silicone sticking to him The last item I wrote was about how to use silicone caulking as a mold making material.

I listed the materials you would need and wrote about how to mix the silicone for molding.

Included in the list was paste wax. I guess I forgot to explain that it was for a release agent. What you do is smooth the paste wax onto your Master before you apply the silicone. This is starting to sound a little perverted!! Anyway apply 2 or 3 coats and after it hazes over buff it a little and your Master will be ready for you.

Once you have built up to the thickness you want you will need to make a shell around the silicone mold. This is to support it when you fill it with concrete or plaster.

For a quick and dirty one shot deal you can use plaster and bandages just like a doctor. Mix the plaster according to the directions and dip your bandages in it. Stick the bandages onto the silicone mold. Be sure the master is still inside his rubber! Build up until you have about 1 ½ inches of plaster/ bandages and let this dry overnight.

You should be able to take this off easily as plaster will not stick to the silicone. Remove the Master and fill the void he left with concrete. Tap the outside as you fill and once you have it filled up cover it and let it cure for 2 or 3 days.
